About me

After graduating with a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering at Singapore Polytechnic, I landed my first job with SMRT as an Assistant Engineer. From dismantling locomotive engine parts to inspecting the railway tracks, it was really a great experience for me. But I always find myself wanting to do something more. I loved my job but I didn't want to be too comfortable. I wanted to explore what the world has in store for me.

After countless hours of researching and binging through videos on YouTube, I decided to take the leap of faith of doing a "mid-career" switch into doing something IT-related. I don't want to bore you with the details of my transition into the boundless world of IT. To put it in a nutshell, my ongoing journey has been a steep uphill climb, but definitely a very fruitful one.

Currently, I am a Cloud Computing Engineer skilled in Data Engineering and Governance in the finance sector. I am part of a team tasked in designing the framework, and implementing data models to ensure efficient data storage and retrieval, and optimal performance for downstream analytics and applications. I have also been assigned development projects which gave me the experience of developing an in-house Data Quality tool which incorporates programming languages like Python, Spark and SQL. I also had hands-on experience working on Azure Databricks and Azure Synapse Analytics.

For those of you who stumbled upon my page, looking to find some words of wisdom, well here it goes:

Go in with an open mind, and don't ever be afraid to fail.
Your doubts kill more dreams than your failures ever will.
Take the leap of faith. You will never know what you are really capable of.
I am really running out of wise words here... well... Have a break! Have a KitKat! It's okay to take breaks. Don't stress yourself out.
